Japan wins the 2023 WBC in front of a sell out crowd. Making it their third WBC championship title, 2006 and 2009 being the only time any team has won back to back. Shohei Ohtani won MVP honors pitching the ninth and earning the save for the World #1, he also had important base hits in both the semifinal and final games. But it was Murakami against Mexico after having three strikeouts who hit the walkoff rbi double off of Gallegos. And Murakami again against USA who tied in the eighth and Okamato who added an extra run as he homered off of Kyle Freeland. Two weeks of dramatic and captivating games rolled into one final Murakami game breaking hit. The Japan team begun celebrating on the mound in LoanDepot park, production began working on setting up the winners podium for trophy presentation and MVP presentation.
