
Meyer pitches six scoreless as the Marlins snap the Mets win streak

Matt Mervis went 2-5, drove in three rbi’s, and powered a two-run homerun in the top of the ninth. Matt Meyer pitched a one hitter in 6 1/3. The Miami Marlins won the game 5-0 against the New York Mets Wednesday at Citi Field.
Nick Fortes also went 2-5 and added an rbi in the top of the fifth inning. Jonah Bride went for 1-5, two runs, and one rbi, snapping a 2-32 slump for the Miami Marlins (6-6). Meyer earned the win striking out four in his third start of the season. “I’m just trying to get them to swing, they are a really good hitting team, I watched them in spring, just sticking with my approach and pitch to my strengths,“ Max said before the game
Pete Alonso had one hit in three at bats and one walk in the fourth inning struggling to drive in any runs for the Mets.
Francisco Lindor added the only other hit in the game for the Mets extending his hit streak to eight games, as the Mets fell to (8-4) snapping their current win streak at six games.
The Mets stayed in the game down two runs despite the struggles at the plate and the early lead by the Marlins. Max Kranick was the most effective pitcher, pitching two scoreless innings until Mets closer Diaz gave up three more runs to Marlins hitters in the ninth.
The Marlins beat the Mets in every box score category making up for the two previous games in the series were they lost in every box score category most notably the hit column.
Miami will host the Washington Nationals on Friday. New York will fly to Oakland for a three game series before playing at Minnesota.
