Marlins win in the ninth, Sanoja and Stowers combine for seven runs

First pitch was made at 7:12 pm., from LoanDepot Park. The first of three games remained scoreless through 3 1/3 innings, until Giancarlo Stanton connected on his 21st home-run of the season; off of Junk’s slider. The missile shot scored the two runners on base, resulting in a 3-0 lead.
Later on, in the top of the fifth inning Jason Dominguez singled in Anthony Volpe for the fourth run of the game. Followed by a Cody Bellinger double that scored Trent Grisham and Dominguez.
For the Marlins Javier Sanoja homered to right off of Carlos Rodon in the bottom of the fifth; it was the second hit of the game for the Marlins. Wagaman had singled before and scored on the two-run blast.
That was followed by a pinch hit two run single by Liam Hicks, with bases loaded, after Carlos Rodon walked Xavier Edwards, Heriberto Hernandez, and Otto Lopez was hit by a pitch from Joseph Loaisiga. The single lowered the Marlins deficit to two runs.
The Yankees opened up the lead in the seventh on a three-run home-run by Trent Grisham off a Bellozo 3-2 changeup from the right hander.
Following the Yankees big seventh inning, the Marlins’ Kyle Stowers hit his second grand slam of the year, drawing the Marlins one run away from the Yankees.
Then Javier Sanoja hit his second home-run of the game to tie the game at nine in the seventh. However, tying the game would prove not to be enough for the rallying fish. As Ramirez singled to left, bringing in Marsee for the Marlins first lead in the game.
The Marlins put the ball in the hands of Lake Bachar with a 10-9 lead. But Anthony Volpe added his third hit of the game and launched it 421’ for his 17 home-run of the year in the eighth inning.
The Yankees regained the lead in the top of the ninth after Ryan McMahon drove in Jose Caballero. And Anthony Volpe added to his multi-hit game with a double off the center field wall; driving in some insurance for the statesiders.
In similar fashion, the Marlins rallied two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a Xavier Edwards single that scored Marsee and Sanoja.
Immediately after, on the second pitch, Ramirez ended the game with an infield single scoring Xavier Edwards from third base.
Xavier Edwards after the game said, “ lucky bats,” Kyle Stowers thanked the fans for the energy and he was concentrating on the ball and not the fans on his grand slam.”
For the Yankees, Jason Dominguez finished 3-4 with two runs and Volpe added four hits, three runs and two RBI’s.
Sanoja led the Marlins with three hits, two runs, and three rbi’s.
Janson Junk pitched 5 innings, allowing six runs on six hits and one walk against the team that drafted him in 2017. Before being relieved by Bellozo who shut down the Yankees in the sixth inning, which allowed the Marlins defense to get off the field.
This game came a day after the Marlins completed their first trade before the deadline. Marlins sent Jesus Sanchez to the Astors, in return the Marlins acquired starting right-hander Ryan Gusto, shortstop Chase Jaworsky and 19-year-old outfielder Esmil Valencia.
Jakob Marsee made his major league debut for the Marlins, after being called up from the Jacksonville. He ended the game 1-2, two runs, and three walks.
He said before the game. “What excitement my whole family was there, having their support. I was choked up on the drive here and I can’t wait,” who started in centerfield and batted ninth.
Coach McCullough spoke on the center fielder during the game, saying, “A good defender that can play all three positions, base stealer that adds speed, and also has tapped into some power.”
Coach McCullough also during the game talked about the Marlins players reactions to the trade deadline. “To still continue on here, in the clubhouse these guys are close, and pull together through the good and the bad.”
