Dave Robert’s brought his bullpen strategy to LoanDepot Park and the Dodgers hitters supplied the runs, with two home-runs and a first inning run off the bat of Teoscar Hernandez — who left the game in the third inning with hamstring tightness. The Dodgers beat the Marlins 7-4 with remarkable execution of bullpen assets.

Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani each hit two-run homers, Ohtani hit his in the fifth inning off of Alcantra — it was a string-line uppercut, that reached a peak height of 14’ and .5 mph faster than any ball hit at LoanDepot Park all year.

Eric Wagaman on a 10 game home hitting streak got things started in the bottom of the sixth when he doubled on a shot over Chris Taylor in centerfield. It was also his seventeenth hit in his last 21 games for the fish. Jesus Sanchez followed it up with a double to right-field. But the Dodgers called on Alex Vesia, whose only given up 5 earned runs all year. He forced Myers to line-out to center and Sanchez to strike out swinging to close the inning.

The Marlins again threatened in the eighth when Agustin Ramirez broke his 1-12 slump with a three-run homer, scoring Sanchez and Myers off of Gomez.

Sandy Alcantra struggled to put away the Dodgers first three hitters which resulted in four runs. He pitched five innings, allowing six hits, and five runs in his fourth lose of the season.
